February was a quiet month for permitting, though many projects started in the fall continued to progress nicely despite the mid-winter weather.

 

2/1/13 – Mike French, check change in floor plan for single family residence; check size of window sash per code for first floor egress.  Work on filing of permits by tax map parcel.   Check on projects re. Feb. planning board meeting – no applications ready, so refer projects for March meeting.  Site visit to Klipper’s to meet with Gibb Belzile.

 

2/4/13 – Talk to engineer re. local snow and wind loads for a metal barn design for the Wrisley Farm.  Check codes and with George Hainer in Westport for most recent load

numbers.   Site visit to conference room addition at Van Ornam/CFES building.

 

2/5/13 – Talk with Russ Shapiro re. new power pole and transformer by his house on Main Street…NYSEG has to upgrade the service at the Van Ornam/CFES building to 400 amps to serve 4 separate office, retail and conference spaces.  Talk to Mike Blanchard at NYSEG re. same.  Site visit to Barbara Kunzi’s to see ceiling panels and trimwork.  Emails.

 

2/6/13 – Talk to Andy Buchanan at the Grange about new bathrooms on the main floor and sound booth in the balcony area planned for Spring 2013.  Write to DCEA re. additional fire protection measures for historic stage curtains.

 

2/7/13 – Work on filing back permits by tax map number.  Site visit to Gerry Benway’s.  Emails to Olive A.  Call to John Lease about mattresses in barn at Cochran house and compliance with Property Maintenance Code…make list of other properties in the village and outlying areas re. same to follow-up on re. compliance and clean-up.

 

2/8/13 – Review right of way issue and lakefront access for Jaquish property…Trillium Partnership easement (2 properties or all?)…and can a dock be built on that property.  Bring to next PB meeting for potential purchaser, R.Reis.  Filing.  Schedule fire inspection for Headstart Center in W’Burgh.

 

2/11/13 – Emails to JVH re. permit for porch project at his residence.  Review plans. Work on agenda items for the next PB meeting with Pat Tivnan.

 

2/12/13 – Work on agenda items for next PB meeting, including possible lakeside stair replacement at Camp Lochanbrae in the Crater Club, dock permit possible for Jaquish property on Bull Run, Pataki remodel/porch at South Farm garage.  Work on building permit and PB applications on-line with Olive A.  Issue building permit for JVH’s porch project (Gerry Spooner, contractor.)

 

2/13/13 – Drop off building permit to JVH.  Talk to Chris at Dock Doctors re. design for Lochanbrae replacement stairs to the lakeshore.  Site visit to Lochanbrae to inpsect structural work by Mitch Rabideau .  Review of plans for upgrade of septic system at Lochanbrae from Mark Hall/John Pribble.  DCEA forms for building permits reviewed.

 

2/14/13  – Day off/Birthday

 

2/15/13 –  Talk to Stu Brody re. timing on his subdivision on Jersey Street and APA JIF status.  South Farm garage apartment renovations reviewed per code requirements.  Deck needs PB approval at March meeting.  Review materials needed to submit for March 7th meeting.  Review Temporary Storage Unit piece for possible inclusion in ordinance revisions.

 

2/18/13 – Site visit to Klipper and Kunzi projects on Bull Run.  Inspect electrical and insulation work upstairs above Live Well (Daltons) and check trusses and electrical at new conference center addition.  Talk to Steve V. about storm drain at street by the Van Ornam/CFES building.

 

2/19/13 – Talk to Christ at Dock Doctors with more details on Ierardi staircase replacement in Whallonsbay.  Talk to Rich Reis re. dock plans and ROW at the Jaquish property and whether he will be able to get a permit from the PB.  Emailed APA JIF forms and info about DEC/Army Corps requirements for docks.  His dock will be small and probably seasonal.

 

2/20/13 – January Board report typed up and copied for PB and TB.  Email from Rich Reis re. proposed dock location at Jaquish property.  Email permit apps to Rich and explain site plan review process.  Talked to DEC Linda Weaver re. Gary Heurich’s farmhouse and revisions to NYS conservation easement.  Review new stair design from Chris at Dock Doctors for Lochanbrae Camp at the Crater Club.

 

2/21/13 – Email out January board report.  Clarification of use for second floor of the Live Well building…rental apartment used in conjunction with the Essex Inn, owned by Rick and Karen Dalton.  Was an apartment, then a seasonal rental, then rental with the Inn.  Now has one room with bath that can be used as a single room from time to time, as needed.  Site visit to Kunzi project, trim and final wall and ceiling finishes.   Permit for Brick Store window and door replacement (Spooner/Smead.)

 

2/22/13 – Emails to Bob Ierardi re. replacement stairs at Camp Lochanbrae/down to Lake Champlain.  Need to take before PB on March 7th to see whether it needs a permit as a new project or is just a replacement project…which would just need a building permit.  Email dock info from zoning ordinance to PB members re. Jaquish property proposal by Rich Reis.  Will discuss project at March 7th PB meeting, in theory, not via formal application.

 

2/25/13 -  Jim Van Hoven permit/plans reviewed with Mark Hall.   SPR need for barn addition at the old Country Store property now owned by Larry Smead.  Meet with Pat Tivnan re. PB agenda for March 7th meeting.  Go over PB SPR application and submissions with David Sayre re. garage apartment porch at South Farm.

 

2/26/13 – Review submittals from David Sayre re. garage porch project at South Farm.  Call Lisa French re. phase two of their house project and to schedule a meeting with Mike re. same.  PB meeting agenda reviewed for Pat Tivnan.  Talked to Rich Reis re. more information for dock proposal at Jaquish property.  Review WHM Law re. same.

 

2/27/13 – Put together PB packets for March 7th meeting, make copies. and put in boxes.  Work on Code Report for DCEA.  Tax map for Ierardi stair project.

 

2/28/13 – Email Larry Smead re. dock permitting and engineer contacts for Schultz property on Lakeshore Road in the village.  Email Susan Bacot re. same and urge her to be involved in the planning process as a neighbor.  Call Crowningshields about rat problem at their house in Whallonsburgh.  Scan and email PB materials to David Hislop for March 7th meeting.  He will be joining us by phone.
